Egg Scaling Calculator

Convert egg counts to grams, grams to eggs, and scale any recipe up or down when it needs a fractional egg — with the exact beaten-egg weight for the fraction.

Scale a recipe by eggs

→ 3 eggs

Beat the eggs and weigh the exact amount needed.

Uses 1 large egg ≈ 50 g (white ≈ 33 g, yolk ≈ 17 g).

Handling fractional eggs when scaling

Scaling recipes rarely lands on a whole number of eggs. Instead of guessing, beat the eggs in a bowl and weigh out the fraction. Since one large egg weighs about 50 g, half a scaled egg means 25 g of beaten egg. The calculator shows the fraction as a kitchen-friendly symbol (½, ⅓, ¼) plus the exact grams to weigh.

Egg Scaling Calculator — FAQ

How many grams is one egg?

One large egg weighs about 50 g in total — roughly 33 g white and 17 g yolk. Sizes vary: small ≈ 42 g, medium ≈ 47 g, large ≈ 50 g and extra-large ≈ 56 g. The calculator uses the size you pick.

How do I scale a recipe that calls for eggs?

Enter the number of eggs the original recipe needs and how many servings it makes, then set your target servings. The calculator returns the scaled egg count in grams, whole eggs plus a remainder, and a kitchen-friendly fraction.

What do I do with a half or fractional egg?

Beat the egg in a bowl and weigh out exactly the amount you need. One large egg is about 50 g, so half an egg is 25 g of beaten egg. This is the standard baker’s method and the calculator shows the exact gram weight to use.

Can I convert grams of eggs back to number of eggs?

Yes. Switch to the weight-to-eggs direction: enter any weight in grams and the calculator tells you how many whole eggs that is, plus the leftover fraction. Useful when a recipe is written in grams or you are using pasteurised liquid egg.

Do all egg sizes weigh the same?

No. A small egg is about 42 g and an extra-large about 56 g — an 8 g difference that compounds when a recipe needs 4–6 eggs. Always pick the size your recipe assumes (most modern recipes assume large).

Is 1 egg the same as 50 g of beaten egg?

Effectively yes. One large whole egg weighs about 50 g, so 50 g of beaten egg equals one egg. If you are using only whites or only yolks, 1 large egg white ≈ 33 g and 1 large yolk ≈ 17 g.
