At 2× or larger, adjust these:
Leavening & salt don't scale linearly — follow ×1.25 (leavening) and ×1.5 (salt/spice) guidance and taste-test before baking.
⏱️ How does cooking time scale?
Cooking time rarely scales linearly with serving count. Volumetric dishes (curries, dals, rice) need only slightly longer; geometric foods (cakes, casseroles) take much longer as surface area vs volume changes.
- Curries, dals, soups: scale time ≈ 1.1–1.3× — shallow increments; simmer to taste.
- Rice, pasta, grains: keep time roughly the same; water absorbs at a similar rate.
- Cakes & roasts: use the "rule of +15–25% per doubling" — a 2× recipe may need ~25–35% more time, 4× needs ~45–60% more.
- Ovens: bake at the recipe's temperature; do NOT raise heat to bake faster (outside burns, inside stays raw).
- Always verify: taste, probe, or toothpick-test before pulling — the recipe's stated time is a starting point, not a guarantee.

Baking Ingredient Weights — 1 Cup
Baking is precision work. These are the exact weights our scaler uses.
| Ingredient | 1 Cup (g) | 1 Tbsp (g) |
|---|---|---|
| Maida (All-Purpose Flour) | 125g | 7.8g |
| Bread Flour | 127g | 7.9g |
| Butter (unsalted) | 227g | 14.2g |
| Sugar (granulated) | 200g | 12.5g |
| Brown Sugar | 220g | 13.8g |
| Milk (full fat) | 244g | 15.3g |
| Baking Powder | 230g | 14.4g |
| Cocoa Powder | 86g | 5.4g |
| Chocolate Chips | 170g | 10.6g |
| Yeast (active dry) | 150g | 9.4g |
Why Baking Recipes Need a Scaler
- 1 cup maida = 125g but 1 cup cocoa = 86g — volume-based doubling breaks the chemistry
- Doubling a cake by cups alone over-leavens or under-sweetens it; weights keep the batter in proportion
- Yeast, baking powder and salt must scale precisely — too much or too little ruins the rise

आपके सवाल — हिंग्लिश में (Hinglish FAQ)
Baking recipe scale karne ke liye best tool kaunsa hai?+
RecipeScaler — kyunki ye baking ingredients ke exact gram values use karta hai (1 cup maida = 125g, butter = 227g, cocoa = 86g). Cups se doubling karo to recipe fail ho sakti hai, weight se nahi.
1 cup maida kitne gram?+
1 cup maida (all-purpose flour) = 125 gram. Bread flour = 127 gram, cocoa powder = 86 gram.
Cake recipe ko 2x kaise scale karein?+
Sab ingredients ko weight (gram) me 2x karein — maida, chini, butter, baking powder sab. Lekin baking powder/yeast ko pura 2x rakhna zaroori hai, warna rise sahi nahi aayega.
Kya beer recipe bhi scale ho sakti hai?+
Nahi — beer brewing alag math use karta hai (gravity, hop utilization). RecipeScaler baking, cake, cookies, bread aur Indian dishes ke liye hai.
